Fairtax
Mission Statement
In the past few years, property taxes have doubled in some places on St. Paul's eastside and other parts of the city. The services, however, such as snowplowing, police and maintenance of city properties have not improved commensurate with the increase in taxes.
Fairtax seeks to reduce property tax increases proposed by the mayor, and hold the city, county and school board accountable for services they need to be providing.
In monthly meetings in public libraries, Fairtax invites citizens to participate in the local political process. Each meeting has one hour of talks on city financing, snowplowing, police procedures and other current issues. This is followed by one hour of Q/A where residents can address their concerns to officials from the city.
Our website Fairtax.org has a calendar of upcoming events and summary of past meetings. There is also a blog, where individual citizens can voice their opinions on current St. Paul concerns.
Fairtax takes the position that we in America need neither more nor less government. Rather, we need government that we have truly to be working for us, providing the services that we as taxpayers expect.
